Abstract
The following review examines the book “Socrate a Processo”, edited by Federico Reggio, containing a new translation of Plato’s Apology and a rich comment, in light of a political-philosophical lens. Despite its philological accuracy, the book offers insightful considerations for our present democracies, challenged, similarly to Athens during Socrates’ life, by polarization, conflicting interpretations of the concept of democracy itself, and by an underlying social and political unrest.
